Antes de mais nada, mp3 em estúdio (Love Me Tender).

Top 4 - Críticas

Archie cantou "Love Me Tender" e "Stand By Me" no top 4 e foi - como sempre - perfeito, aqui estão as críticas:

DAVID ARCHULETA -- Sang "Stand By Me." Archuleta is so young that this Ben E. King song was a classic #4 hit in 1961 and then charted again 25 years later when it was featured in the Rob Reiner film Stand By Me in 1986 (still the best movie adaptation for Stephen King) and went to #9 and yet it would still be another four years before Archuleta would even be born. And yet that's still no reason for Ryan to refer to him as "Li'l Dave." It's a solid performance, though Archuleta is definitely helped when the camera comes in on a mid-shot and cuts off his diva hand movements. His breathing is less noticeable but now that Andrew Lloyd Webber has pointed it out I can't stop watching to see how many times Archuleta struggles with closing his eyes. His applause is literally ten times as loud and strong as the others. (Bizarrely, Paula applauds him specifically for listening to ALW and not closing his eyes all the time when he clearly still does it.) All three judges rave, though Ryan insists Archuleta is so tense during the critique he seems to run out of breathing (maybe that's why Archuleta seems smart by keeping his mouth shut). "Their faces scare me!" he laughs, melting the few hearts left that aren't already in a puddle at his feet.

DAVID ARCHULETA -- Sang Elvis Presley's "Love Me Tender." It is indeed refreshing to see him stay away from soaring inspirational ballads and Archuleta just sits on a stool, stares lovingly and sincerely into the camera and has his way with the tune. Hilariously, he only gets four words into the song before involuntarily closing his eyes ("Love me tender, Love --" and boom, they shut.) After a while he is looking below the camera (presumably into the mosh pit) instead of into it and then his voice breaks slightly at the finale but he uses it like the uncanny little pro he is and ends nicely. I listen to it again without watching the picture, thus avoiding his puppy dog eyes, and it's better than I thought at first, despite the constant runs and inability to just sing a melody for more than a phrase or two. Randy raves, Paula says "I felt your heart" and Simon says "You didn't just beat the competition. You crushed them." Indeed.

David Archuleta: "Stand By Me" by Ben E. KingI liked the way David changed up the arrangement of this maybe-too-familiar-for-Idol song. The bongos were a particularly nice touch, and his voice really soared over the softness of the backup singers. David proved that he has the vocal chops to modulate his singing as is appropriate for the song, without resorting to annoying theatrics. Overall, it was a very restrained performance that still entertained me. Paula, naturally, agreed that this 17-year-old is "way beyond [his] years… seasoned already." That said, the audience was particularly scream-y tonight, no?

David Archuleta: "Love Me Tender" by Elvis PresleyI haven't been a big Archuleta fan thus far, but after this song, I think I get it. He sang it well, distinguished it enough from Elvis' version to avoid copycat accusations, and practically sexually assaulted the cameraman his performance was so impassioned. Seriously, could the camera have gotten any closer? Randy, too, received some Archuleta love, pointing out that he "caressed every word." Simon summed up the evening well by stating simply that he "crushed the competition tonight."

The night's main revelation was David Archuleta. He seemed unlikely to triumph on rock night. But he was the pro. Cowell told Little David A., "You crushed the competition." And so he did. Can the competition pull itself together to challenge him?

Archuleta: It's been a while since Archuleta has really shone, but his sweetly gentle take on his first song of the night, "Stand By Me" (Ben E. King) was a winner. And his vocal on Elvis Presley's "Love Me Tender" was velvety smooth.

The remaining contenders on Season 7 of “American Idol” faced one of their toughest evenings of competition on Tuesday night. From forgetting the words, to splitting the judges panel, to just being off their game, only one person managed to endure the hour plus broadcast without taking a knock — David Archuleta.

Randy has been all too often wrong this season, but he was completely correct that Little David is clearly ''trying to win the whole thing'' every time he takes the stage. And on technical merit alone, no one else on stage tonight could match his one-two punch of ''Stand by Me'' and ''Love Me Tender.

ArchAngels rejoice! Little David easily dominated the night, starting with a self-assured and surprising "Stand by Me." The prodigy proved that you can run all over a simple melody but still make it recognizable (take note, Josiah!). Then, just to keep us on our toes, David slipped in a line from Sean Kingston's "Beautiful Girls," instantly making the ancient track sound fresh and new without relying on flashy distortion or emo-whine. (Am I the only one who read Arch's quick reworking as a subtle jab at competitor David Cook?) Looks like all those hours spent alone in his room singing "Stand by Me" to himself "or to [his] dog or something" paid off. On a side note, what 16-year-old boy locks himself in his room only to sing oldies to himself? Maybe that explains all the awkward post-performance panting?
I wasn't as blown away by "Love Me Tender," but I still give ArchAdorable points for a brilliant song choice. You could practically hear his fans melting across America as he purred the lyrics over a simple piano accompaniment. I was hoping David would keep it restrained and quiet throughout, but I suppose any serious romantic encounter ends with a loud climax.

e agora, a crítica de uma repórter que tava logo na frente do palco, no "mosh pit":

Archuleta Time. They say that when you are near the center of a hurricane it sounds like a locomotive roaring straight toward you. Well, when you are in the mosh pit during a David Archuleta performance it sounds like a hurricane about to level you to your foundations, break through your levee, flood your basements and render your neighborhood uninhabitable for generations. The shrieking starts at the first mention of his name. It increases when his face appears projected on the screen and explodes when The Chosen One steps onto the stage. Girls jump up and down, bubble over in tears and scream, “I love you!” throughout his time on stage. At the breaks, he waves to the screamers with his trademark “Aww, cut it out, you guys!" impossible-not-to-love embarrassed grin. Being in the center of this whirlwind of ecstasy is not an experience a grownup should dive into unprepared, although many ladies of a certain age in the pit seemed to get pretty well carried away by it.
